Mareeba Fire Station Visit 23/2/2017
THE went to the Mareeba Fire Station to learn about fire safety and check out the new station We got to sit in the fire truck and learn about the fire fighting equipment it carries, as well as having a go in the rescue boat and the stretcher. The firemen and women were very friendly and helpful and seemed impressed with our fire safety awareness!

Friday evening sunset watching and maybe picnic at the balancing rock , back to camp at the eco lodge and camp fire maybe with damper on a stick or fire twirling or music depends what people want to do.

Balancing Rock track (Grade: moderate)
Distance: 440m return
Time: 20mins
Details: From the Balancing Rock car park a rough track climbs up a rock formation, providing views of Balancing Rock—a spectacular limestone outcrop. Take a moment to enjoy the view and photograph the surrounding open woodlands.

Royal Arch track (Grade: easy)
Distance: 9km return
Time: 2.5hrs
Details: From Balancing Rock car park, 2.5km south of Chillagoe, the Royal Arch track passes the Wullumba Aboriginal rock art site. This pleasant walk then winds past several striking limestone outcrops called tower karsts—features of world scientific interest.
As you cross Chillagoe Creek, notice the huge paperbark trees lining its banks. The track continues through open woodland featuring bloodwoods, Cooktown ironwoods, tea-trees and grevilleas.
At the Royal Arch bluff—an imposing jagged limestone outcrop rising abruptly from the surrounding woodland—the vegetation changes again. Here you will find scrubby deciduous plants such as native bauhinias and helicopter trees.

Bowling Fun

On Thursday we went bowling.
.
We broke up into groups. I was in a group with my friends.
It was very busy, but there was lots to do for everyone.
Bowling is great fun, I hope we can go again soon 😊
Old Fashioned Sports Day

First we did a three legged race, which was fun.
Then we did Apple bobbing and got wet, some more than others! We all enjoyed the apple after the game.
The next game was egg and spoon race. The little kids were so much fun to watch. Some enjoyed their eggs after the race.
Next we did a sack race in pillow cases. It was really fun.
The last game was a relay race. The little kids were really fast and it was amazing how far they could run.
We
all received ribbons for participation. It was a great day and was lots of fun! Can't
wait for the next one.
